Kimberly's got to be the most interesting character on the Warbler. She's dynamic, slightly mysterious, and highly competent, but with clear vulnerabilities. I wish I could take the credit for her existence, but that has to go to my friend Samantha Michaud. When I was asking friends for help designing characters for Warbler, Sam was one one of the first to answer that call, and she gave me Kim.
Kim immediately supplanted Deck Officer Ali as commander of the Warbler-he's much happier in his new job anyway-and the short story 'Why?' practically wrote itself on a two-hour trip to Boston.
She's the Main Protagonist of Warbler (though all the characters are protagonists), in that she's the one making major decisions, but I don't think she's heroic in the classical sense.
