Mary Wentworth was the last character that was given to me by a friend to have her POV finished-and if you remember that annoying first-grade saying, 'Last but not least', that definitely holds here. She happens to share a POV with Jae, which really isn't any huge loss for her-it's twice as long, and I think that it's a stronger piece of fiction because of the fact that it's interwoven like that. It also served as practice for interweaving POVs freely within a chapter, which I have not done extensively before Warbler. Actually, this is a quite important POV-You learn about Jae and Mary obviously, but you also get mentions of Sadira, and a lot of snapshots of different parts of the Republic's culture.
Incidentally, the fact that we have 'Mary' and 'Maria' on the same ship is accidental-it's just part of the process that was used to come up with the characters.
